Vocabulary Description Example Sentence
COHESION Joining ideas together. A good essay will be easy to understand because of its cohesion.
COHERENCE Able to be understood. An essay needs to show coherence; that is, a logical flow of ideas. See also COHERENT
BRIEF Short, quick. The meeting was brief as everyone was very busy.
INDICATE To show or suggest (verb); a sign showing or suggesting something (noun = indication). He indicated that he was bored.
DIRECTION Guidance or instruction about how to proceed. The manager provided clear direction for the next phase of the project.
KEYWORDS The main words in a sentence that express the main ideas. In the reading test, you can find answers quickly and efficiently by looking for keywords.
BALANCE An even distribution of weight, importance, or proportion between parts. The essay maintained a good balance between the advantages and disadvantages.
