Vocabulary Description Example Sentence
PARAPHRASE To express the meaning of something using different words. Paraphrase the sentence to show you understand its meaning.
REPHRASE To say something again in a different way, often to make it clearer. If the point is unclear, rephrase it more simply.
IDENTIFY To recognise or name something; to locate or point out. Identify the main trend shown in the graph.
ANTICIPATE To expect or predict something; to prepare for a future event. It is hard to anticipate every possible question on the test.
CONTEXT The circumstances or background that help explain the meaning of something. Understanding the context makes the passage easier to interpret.
ATTRIBUTE To regard something as being caused by; (noun) a characteristic or quality. Many students attribute their progress to regular practice.
OPEN-MINDED Willing to consider new ideas and different opinions. Be open-minded when evaluating alternative viewpoints in your essay.
